Interests
Things that are important to me include:
- My writing, both poetry and prose. I'm currently trying to finish a novel partially set in Cambridge and partially in Corsica. I've got a couple more on the back-burner as well. Do feel free to read the taster chapters and send me your feedback.
- Photography is becoming increasingly important to me. I wouldn't be without my DSLR (a Pentax K100D) and indeed rarely am! I had my 1st solo exhibition at Little St Mary's church in June 2006. I'm also heavily involved with/addicted to the Geograph project.
- My church, Little St Mary's. This is a church in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England (otherwise known as Anglo-Catholic). I sing soprano in the choir here, and have recently revamped and expanded its website.
- In other music-related stuff, I also sing with The Cantus Singers of Cambridge, and occasionally play the violin in some of their concerts as part of the Quintus Consort.
- France in general, and Corsica in particular. I spend as much time there as possible, having first visited Corsica (Bastia/Aiacciu/Calvi) in September 2006. I have been back there twice since then, most recently in September 2007. I hope eventually to move there, either to Carghjese or Calvi. In the meantime, I have to content myself with visits as often as I can afford them, and listening to Corsican polyphony when not able to be there. Of course, were someone to offer me a job there, I'd move like a shot!
- Politics, both of the governmental and the academic sorts. I am a member of the Liberal Democrats and am very interested in electoral methods and voting reform: this came about due to University politics reasons (see the Cambridge University Reporter over the last few years).
- My friends. 'Nuff said!
- LiveJournal. My own is friends-locked, I'm afraid.
- Ubuntu Linux. The operating system of choice for the 21st Century geek!
